The Chips Didn’t Drive Themselves Here: Confessions of a Texas Reseller

The Chips Didn’t Drive Themselves Here: Confessions of a Texas Reseller

Yes, We’re Resellers. No, the Chips Didn’t Drive Themselves Here.

Let’s clear something up: Texan Temptations is an independent reseller—and we’re clear about it.

We purchase products from places like Buc-ee’s, H-E-B, Whataburger, and other Texas favorites, then offer them through our shop. We’re not affiliated with those brands, and we don’t pretend to be.

We explain this on our website, and we leave the original tags on our items. If we were trying to keep a secret, leaving the evidence attached would be a pretty questionable strategy.

Why do we do it?

Because not everyone lives five minutes from H-E-B or can casually swing by Buc-ee’s.

Some of you moved away from Texas and miss your favorites. Some discovered them on vacation. Others saw a Christmas tumbler online and decided that, emotionally, it was already theirs.

We get it.

Texan Temptations brings those finds to your doorstep without requiring a plane ticket, a road trip, or a cousin you have to bribe into going shopping.

Why do we love it?

Does that occasionally feel like giving the fox a managerial position at the henhouse? Also yes.

Do we find ourselves making three-hour round trips to get those items? You bet your boots.

Have we gone to FOUR different Buc-ee’s locations looking for an item a customer emailed us about? ABSOLUTELY.

At that point, it’s less of a shopping trip and more of a Texas treasure hunt—with a gas receipt and a very determined woman behind the wheel.

Why go that far? Because we know it isn’t always “just a tumbler” or “just a bag of chips.” Sometimes it’s the gift you’ve been searching for, a favorite you can’t get where you live, or a little piece of home.

And we love being the ones who help you find it.

Wholesale pricing? Bless your heart.

We don’t get wholesale pricing. We pay retail plus sales tax.

That’s right—the price on the tag, with tax added at checkout. No tax exemption here!

When you see an original price tag, remember: that number isn’t even our full purchase cost. We’ve already paid more than that before the item makes it onto our website.

We love sharing Texas finds, but “buy it at retail, pay the tax, and sell it for the tag price” is less of a business plan and more of an expensive hobby.

You already encounter markups—even when you don’t see them

When you buy a bag of chips at a store, its price generally includes more than what the store paid its supplier. That difference helps cover business expenses and profit.

You usually don’t see the supplier’s invoice taped to the bag. You see the selling price.

With resale, an original retail tag makes that difference more visible. We leave that tag in place because we’re comfortable being transparent about it.

Our purchase price is part of our cost. It isn’t the entire cost of running the business.

Could you buy it yourself for less?

Absolutely—if you have access to the store, the item is available, and you want to make the trip.

We’re happy for you to do that.

But if you’d rather have someone else handle the shopping and send your Texas favorites to your door, that’s where we come in. You can see our price and decide whether the convenience is worth it to you.

No mystery. No secret handshake. No claim that we personally invented the jalapeño chip.

Just a small, family-owned business sharing the Texas finds we love—with clear prices, original tags, customer appreciation, and a whole lot of packing tape.

Texas is full of temptation. We just put it in a shipping box.

This is more than a business—it’s Texas love.

We LOVE Buc-ee’s and H-E-B, and we love what they stand for. We’re fans first, and that enthusiasm is at the heart of Texan Temptations.

This isn’t a hobby or simply a way to sell another bag of chips. We’ve built our small, family-owned business around sharing places and products we’re excited about—with people who love them just as much as we do.

You don’t make a three-hour round trip or visit four Buc-ee’s locations for one customer’s request without a little passion. And possibly a very strong road-trip playlist.

We love the hunt, we love the finds, and we love getting to share them with you.

We pack a little appreciation, too

We’re thankful for our customers, and we’re not afraid to show it. That’s why we also love including coupons and freebies—a little extra love tucked into your order.

You chose to support our small business, and that means something to us. Your order deserves more than packing tape and a tracking number.

We may mark up the chips, but we also throw in some appreciation. Around here, gratitude comes with goodies.
